Sports talk isn’t always about sports.
In fact, when you talk sports at work, it’s often less about sports and more about making a connection.
Asking about a game you know your colleague watched or had a rooting interest in shows that you cared enough to remember. It also shows you cared enough to give your colleague a chance to talk about it. Those little conversations build rapport and the type of relationship you need to get “real” work done. Use those small moments to your advantage and use the next 55 seconds to brush up on these topics.
