I don’t think much about my story.
It’s like when someone says, “You have a cool job.” I know the correct answer is, “Yes, I do.” But to me it’s my job.
The same is true when I’m asked to share the story of how to got to where I am in my career. I don’t think there’s much of a story to tell. The way I see it, I worked my way up and I was stubborn (and maybe naive) enough that I didn’t believe the people who told me I wouldn’t make it.
Of course there’s a little more to the story. The twists and turns get revealed in interviews like the one I did recently as a guest on the Debcast. The podcasts explores what it’s like to be an athletic girl with guts and I was honored to be a featured guest.
If you know a young lady considering a career in sports broadcasting the stories told in this episode will be helpful. I don’t consider myself a trail blazer, but realize looking back there weren’t a lot of women I could pattern my career off of when I was starting out. I’m glad the landscape as changed and proud to tell my story.
