I find it interesting each year when Harris Poll releases “America’s Favorite Sports Star.”  This year Kobe Bryant tops the list, marking the 1st time in 5 years Tiger Woods hasn’t held the top spot.  There are almost too many conversation starters and talking points to count relating to this poll.  It’s been widely talked about in the media and it’s a perfect opportunity for you to join the conversation because it opens the door for the age old question – “Who’s your favorite athlete?”

This is one of my all time favorite questions.  Not only do you get to engage with someone on a topic that’s likely to get them fired up about talking to you, but there’s a number of built-in follow up questions.  Here are a few examples “Why is he/she your favorite player?”  “What do you like most about him/her?” “How long have you followed him/her?”

You could easily engage in a 10 minute conversation with someone – let’s say a co-worker – and learn a lot about that person without saying much yourself.  That kind of interaction conveys a genuine interest in your co-worker.  That will make them feel good, and in turn, they will really enjoy working with you.  That increases your productivity when you’re working together and leads to more opportunities and success at work.

Speaking of success at work… In the last couple weeks, I’ve made it a point to take advantage of several women’s business groups in the Seattle Area like Ladies Who Launch, Women’s Business Exchange, Young Female Entrepreneurs.  I’ve started blogging for the great gals at Girl Power Hour, and it’s been awesome!  I’ve met some great people and learned a lot.  Want to do the same?  Check out the Women’s Mill Creek Festival Saturday in the parking lot of Hot Yoga of Mill Creek.   It’s the brainchild of Rachel James owner of Hot Yoga of Mill Creek.

“My girlfriend and I were talking about some women’s events that were coming up and I thought it would be a great idea to create one for us.”

There’s no question Rachel has a passion for hot yoga.  While relatively new, it’s popularity is sky rocketing.  “Hot yoga is a great way to get long, lean, sexy muscles.” Rachel says.  I’d say the proof is in the pictures.

If you’re curious – or skeptical stop by Saturday and talk to Rachel.  She’ll help you become a believer – and give you a special rate to get started.

In addition, check out booths promoting skin care, nutrition, pet care, Talk Sporty to Me and many more.  And did I mention there’s a DJ?  Stop by check it out.
